The Coastal Community

The Golden Isles

  • Coastal Georgia students have access to activities which capitalize on the College’s proximity to two great beaches with quick rides over the causeway to either Simons Island or Jekyll Island. Passes to Jekyll Island are issued to fulltime students, providing access to all of the amenities of the state’s seaside playground. Off-campus adventure excursions to St. Simons Island include stand-up paddle boarding and kayaking. Students can take to the water as well as hike the beaches and trails of our regional ecosystems for field-directed learning in a coastal environment that is a living laboratory and one of the first designated, protected wetlands in the nation.

Brunswick, GA

  • The College of Coastal Georgia is ideally situation in Brunswick, Georgia: where history, inspired cuisine and Southern hospitality meet. The Golden Isles' mainland port city is home to historic squares, laid out in a formal grid similar to Savannah.  It boosts a marina-front park that hosts spectacular events and an array of ocean vessels – including shrimp boats!

Getting to the College is easy! The campus is just minutes away from I-95 and Brunswick hosts a commercial airport (Brunswick Golden Isles Airport).  Additionally, Coastal Georgia is approximately one hour from airports in Jacksonville, FL and Savannah, GA.

So here in Brunswick, we have a lot of opportunities for students to get involved in. We have downtown Brunswick which has a bunch of little stores. You have restaurants and such that you can get involved in. And I get to just relax after a long day of classes. And it's really cool because the atmosphere in downtown really has like an older atmosphere, but then again, you know, Costal is really known for being close to the beach. So if you want to come right after class, just go. Right to the beach.

The really coolest thing about going to college in Coastal Georgia is all the things that surround Brunswick. You have Saint Simons Island, which of course the beach, you can never go wrong. Then you also have Jekyll Island. And even though there is a charge to get on Jekyll, students get free passes. And there's a lot of great places to eat here, a lot of local really cool places like downtown and on the island.

Well, we are one of the most affordable options in higher education in the nation. And we're very proud of that. And we're very fortunate to be one of the institutions in the state to be able to offer out-of-state border waivers to the states that border us. So for an out-of-state student who comes to the College of Coastal Georgia, not only is it going to be a great deal for you as you consider how to pay for college, but the experience you're going to have with us here at this beautiful campus is going to be second to none.
